Original Paintings by Caya Crum

One of a kind. Hand-painted. Never reproduced. Original acrylic paintings by Caya Crum — Fort Worth, Texas artist and TCU senior.

Original Acrylic Paintings for Sale by Caya Crum

Caya Crum paints the world she lives in — cowboys who hold bananas instead of guns, cats in red boots, horses with pink eyes that look straight through you, a Texas-shaped waffle on a chinoiserie plate. These are not prints. These are the originals: acrylic on canvas, oil on wood, sometimes with canvas scraps stitched right into the surface. Each one is a single object that exists once in the world.

Caya has been painting since childhood, has shown at Round Top, Fort Worth Junior League's Christmas in Cowtown, and the Fort Worth Stock Show and Rodeo. Her prints sell across the country. Her originals are rarer — painted in her Fort Worth studio in small batches between semesters at TCU, where she is completing her fine arts degree.

Banana Bandits — $3,700

Acrylic on canvas — 36 x 48 inches — Summer 2026

Two cowboys stand ready to fend off any oncoming threats — except in this case, each hand holds a slightly ripe banana. By replacing guns with bananas, this painting playfully undermines traditional ideas of masculinity, conflict, and cowboy mythology, inviting viewers to find both humor and tenderness in this summer scene.

Thank You For Shopping — $1,200

Acrylic paint and oil on canvas — 30 x 48 inches — Spring 2026

A solitary figure stands in the fluorescent glow of a grocery store aisle, wrapped in an oversized leopard-print coat, suspended between memory and the routines of everyday life. The scratched photograph becomes a fragile artifact of identity — even as objects deteriorate and moments fade, they continue to carry emotional significance.

Four of a Kind — $1,500

Acrylic paint and oil paint on canvas — 36 x 36 inches — Fall 2025

Bathed in the fading light of dusk, a cowboy sits beside his faithful horse in a desert filled with prickly pear cacti, studying the cards in his hand. Four playing cards lie face-up in the foreground — a winning hand. You are the unseen winner across the table.

Cloudbusting — $650

Acrylic paint on canvas — 26 x 31.25 inches — Summer 2026

Towering clouds swell across the canvas in luminous shades of white, blush, and lavender against a glowing turquoise sky. Near the horizon, a ghostly neon pink cowboy on horseback appears almost insignificant — reduced to a fleeting silhouette within the vast desert expanse.

Cattle Herder — $450

Acrylic paint and oil paint on canvas — 20 x 20 inches — Fall 2025

A lone cowboy rides at the front of a moving herd, meeting the viewer's gaze with unwavering confidence. His direct eye contact creates a powerful connection — inviting the viewer into the rhythm and responsibility of the cattle drive.

Bluebonnet Mare — $450

Acrylic paint on canvas — 20 x 24 inches — Spring 2026

A lone mare grazes a field of bluebonnets as the sun sets and the stars begin to appear. The white star on her forehead echoes the stars emerging overhead — a quiet, deeply Texas painting.

Texas Rose — $450

Acrylic paint and canvas scraps on canvas — 16 x 20 inches — Summer 2026

A lone cowgirl rides into the quiet desert beneath a star-scattered sky. What makes this piece truly distinctive: the fringe of her jacket is constructed from an attached piece of canvas that can be physically lifted and flipped, revealing a bold hot pink underside. A painting you can interact with.

Portrait of Biscuit — $390

Acrylic painting on canvas — 20 x 24 inches — Fall 2025

Biscuit is a little pony who has been on many adventures across the Texas landscape. The blazing pink sky and tasseled bridle emphasize Biscuit's endurance and passion for adventuring out on the plains.

Hey Baby, Que Paso — Flaco Jiménez — $380

Acrylic paint and oil paint on canvas — 16 x 20 inches — Spring 2026

A tribute to Flaco Jiménez — accordionist from San Antonio, Texas, whose career spanned over 70 years. He collaborated with Bob Dylan, the Rolling Stones, and the Texas Tornados, and earned multiple Grammys for his contributions to conjunto music.

Howdy Rowdy — $350

Acrylic paint and oil paint on canvas — 16 x 20 inches — Spring 2026

Rendered in bold colors and graphic forms, this work blends pop aesthetics with Western iconography to challenge conventional ideas of masculinity and frontier identity. Tattoos, oversized glasses, and contemporary styling replace the mythic cowboy archetype with a figure who is unapologetically himself.

Rosie — $350

Acrylic paint and oil marker on wood panel — 11 x 14 inches — Fall 2025

Similar to Bonnie and Clyde, Rosie often gets into trouble with her older brother Smokey. She is still trying to quit smoking, but we all have our vices. Red boots, hand-knit sweater made by grandma kitty, starry leggings, and a dapper red hat. After her smoking break she is most definitely hitting the trail.

Star — $350

Acrylic paint and oil paint on canvas — 11 x 14 inches — Spring 2026

A reoccurring horse in several of Caya's works. Her striking pink eyes pierce the viewer and appear almost otherworldly, emphasized by the repeated star pattern floating behind her. Calm, tranquil — the presence of a mythical creature.

Bronco Buster — $350

Acrylic paint on canvas — 14 x 18 inches — Spring 2026

A contemporary take on the traditional cowboy portraiture of Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. Rather than staying truthful to the landscape, this horse and rider float in a dreamy pastel landscape that feels timeless and surreal.

A Texas Breakfast — $240

Acrylic painting on canvas — 12 inches round — Summer 2026

You may have heard of an English Breakfast — but have you heard of a Texas Breakfast? A Texas-shaped waffle, fried egg, sizzling bacon, potato wedges, and an heirloom tomato salad. All homegrown and harvested in the Lone Star State.

Party Plate — $260

Acrylic painting on canvas — 11 x 14 inches — Summer 2026

A nostalgic celebration of summertime gatherings — hotdogs, Lay's potato chips, loft house cookies, and more. Picnic staples and backyard treats that evoke memories of family reunions, neighborhood cookouts, and long afternoons spent outdoors.
