Waco Art — Home of Dr Pepper, Big Red and Baylor University

Waco has a stronger claim on Texas history than most people realize. Dr Pepper was invented here in 1885. Big Red was born here in 1937. Health Camp has been feeding Waco since 1949. Baylor University has anchored the city for over 175 years. These are not incidental details — they are the reason Waco has always had a distinct identity, long before anyone put it on a map for any other reason.

Betsy Crum has been photographing and painting Texas for thirty years, and Waco has always been worth the drive. The Big Red Dist. building against that enormous Central Texas sky. The Health Camp sign with its soft serve cone and its Big Red logo tucked in the corner. The Dr Pepper prints that belong here as much as they belong anywhere.
