Texas Singer Songwriters — Typographic Texas Art by Carl Crum

Stand back and it is a clean red or blue state on a gray field. Step up and it is hundreds of names set in six-point type, every one of them a songwriter who was born in the Lone Star State or got here as fast as they could. It is built for people who read walls. It comes in Red and in a dusty Blue, and it is the most detailed Texas wall art in the shop.

Fair warning on the roll call: it is circa 2013. All the best are on there, but a few young powerhouses have come along since and did not make this printing. We will get them next time.

It belongs in a jam room, a music room, an office, or a hallway where people stop, and on a gallery wall it pairs with the Alphabet of Texas. A good homesick Texan gift for a guitar fanatic, or for anyone who will stand there hunting for their favorites.

Product FAQ

What is the state made of?

Names. Every line inside the shape is a Texas singer songwriter, either born in the Lone Star State or here as fast as they could get here. Set small enough that from across the room you only see a clean red or blue state on a gray field.

Is every Texas singer songwriter on here?

All the best ones are, but the roll call is circa 2013. A few young powerhouses have come along since and did not make this printing. We will get them next time.

Where should it hang?

A jam room, a music room, an office, or a hallway where people stop. It only works if you can get near it, so a spot people pass at arm's length beats a high wall across a big room. It comes in Red and in a dusty Blue, depending on how loud you want the state to be.

Who is it for, and what hangs with it?

The guitar fanatic and the Texas music lover, who will stand there hunting for their favorites. It pairs with the Alphabet of Texas, which works the same way: a familiar shape that turns out to be made of words.

Will this look like an original painting or a print?

Crum Art takes the scanning and photographing of original paintings seriously — we work to capture the texture of the canvas or paper the original was created on, so that texture shows through in the print. Combined with the cotton rag paper’s own subtle surface and the hand-signing, many customers say they cannot tell if it’s an original or a print. That’s intentional. These are not flat digital reproductions — they are fine art prints that carry the soul of the original.

What sizes does this print come in?

Our fine art prints are available in standard rectangle and square sizes. Rectangles: 8x10 unframed matted to 11x14, 11x14 unframed, 16x20, 18x24, and 24x36. Squares: 8x8 unframed matted to 12x12, 12x12 unframed, 16x16, 20x20, and 24x24. Each size ships ready to frame, making it easy to find the right fit for your wall.

How do I make a gallery wall with art prints?

Start with an anchor piece and build outward — many Crum Art prints are part of series designed to group together as a statement gallery wall, or hang individually as standalone pieces. Since every image is sized to fit standard frames, mixing sizes is easy: lay the arrangement out on the floor first, keep about two to three inches between frames, and center the whole grouping at eye level.
