It is less a habit than a ritual, and the internet turned it into a whole genre. Tavi Crum painted it first in this family, Caya followed with a bluebonnet version, and now the fridge cig has its own wall at Crum Art: the pink cigarette with a bow, the Diet Coke neat, the fridge door open at midnight.
They hang where the joke lives: the bar cart, the kitchen, the powder room, the dorm. The cocktail napkins and the glass ashtray are the stocking-sized versions, and the Diet Coke set of three is the kitchen gallery wall.
What is a fridge cig?
A fridge cig is a single cigarette stored in the refrigerator, often beside a Diet Coke, and saved as a small reward for after a party or a long day. The phrase took off on TikTok and Instagram over the last couple of years as a joke about treating yourself to one very specific, very cold thing. Crum Art's fridge cig prints are paintings of that ritual: Tavi Crum's pink cigarette with a bow and her Diet Coke neat, and Caya Crum's fridge cigarette with Diet Coke and bluebonnets.
Who painted the fridge cig art?
Tavi Crum, the youngest of the Crum family, painted the cigarette with a bow and the Diet Coke pieces; her sister Caya Crum painted the fridge cigarette with Diet Coke and bluebonnets. All of them are originals from the family's Fort Worth studio, printed to order as signed giclée prints.
Where do you hang fridge cig art?
Bar carts, kitchens, powder rooms and dorm rooms, anywhere a small, funny print does the most work. The smaller sizes are the usual bar-cart pick; the Diet Coke set of three builds a kitchen gallery wall in one go.
Is fridge cig art a good gift?
It is the most-asked-about thing on our table every December. For the friend whose whole personality is a Diet Coke, the cigarette with a bow cocktail napkins and the glass ashtray fit in a stocking, and the prints are the bigger version of the same joke.
