Under a sky running purple to sherbet orange, stars just coming out, a big saguaro wears somebody's forgotten cowboy hat while the neon HOWDY HOTEL sign points the way with an arrow. Down in the dark bushes, little glowing critter eyes watch the front desk. A striped snake crosses the sand like he's late for something.
It's Caya's strange and perfect roadside West — our favorite motel that doesn't exist — humor, bite, and a sunset worth pulling over for. Vacancy status unknown; the snake won't say.
