A Custom Pet Portrait by Caya Crum
Caya has painted a lot of other people's animals. Rocco and Bear, two Australian shepherds, in a wildflower field at dusk. Buster Nash in a red feather boa at the lake. A black cat and a sphynx sharing a birthday cake with sparklers. An orange tabby asleep in a window. Two old friends on a gingham picnic blanket under the pines. A commission is the same brush and the same color, pointed at yours. Send a few photos, tell her the one thing everyone says about your pet, and she paints it in the Fort Worth studio, acrylic on canvas or paper, signed, in the size you pick.
How It Works
1. Ask for a quote. Use the form on this page, or email Caya at cayarose@icloud.com. Tell her the animal, the size you have in mind and when you need it.
2. Caya replies within a day with a price and a date, and asks for three to five photos: good light, eye level, the face you love. A birthday cake, a feather boa, a specific chair? Say so.
3. She paints. You get a photo of the finished portrait to approve before it ships.
4. It arrives. Signed, wrapped, shipped flat or on canvas from Fort Worth, Texas.
Dogs, Cats, Horses and the Occasional Chicken
Dogs are most of what she paints, cats are a close second, and horses have their own following. If it has a face and a personality, ask. She also paints houses: a custom house portrait is the closing gift realtors keep coming back for. More portraits are on the way to this page as their owners say yes to sharing them.
Questions
How much is a custom pet portrait? Beginning at $250. The final price depends on size and how many animals are in it; the quote comes before you pay anything.
How long does it take? Usually a week to a month from the day she has your photos. Caya is fast, but December fills up, so ask early for Christmas.
Can it be a gift? Yes. Most portraits are. If you can't get photos without spoiling it, buy a Crum Art gift card and let them send the photos themselves after Christmas.
Can I get prints of my portrait too? Yes; once the painting is done, ask and we'll set up prints of it in the standard sizes.
Who paints it? Caya Crum, Fort Worth, Texas. Original family artwork, painted to order and signed. Questions go straight to her: cayarose@icloud.com.
