Red Hair Jack — the Redhead Cowboy by Caya Crum
Jack is painted against flat yellow, orange curls springing out from under a white hat with a pink brim, a red bandana at his throat and a blue-and-white striped shirt below it. Red hair on yellow shouldn't work. It does, because Caya keeps the tones close together and lets the blue stripes take the pressure off.
He's the brightest of them and the only redhead in the bunch. There aren't many redheaded cowboys in western art, which is most of the reason people stop on him.

Yellow is the hardest color to hang and the best one to walk into. Jack works where you pass rather than sit — an entryway, a stair wall, a hallway, or the bright corner of a kitchen, where he holds up next to anything else in our kitchen wall art. Anywhere a jolt of color is welcome four seconds at a time. He's also the one to put opposite a dark wall, or at the bright end of a gallery wall. The one sit-down exception is a dining room — dinner conversation keeps up with him just fine.

What makes Red Hair Jack different from the other cowboys?
The hair. Orange curls springing out from under the brim. He is the only redhead in Caya Crum's cowboy series, and there are very few redheaded cowboys anywhere in western art, which is most of the reason people stop walking when they reach him.
What is he wearing?
A white hat with a pink brim, a red bandana at the throat, and a blue-and-white striped shirt underneath. The blue stripes are doing quiet work in the background of the picture: they cool it down just enough for red hair and a yellow wall to get along.
Is this a pink print or a yellow one?
Yellow. The background is flat yellow the whole way across. The pink shows up only in the brim of his hat and the shadow it throws underneath. People remember him pinker than he actually is, so it is worth saying before you match him to a room.
Who is Red Hair Jack a good gift for?
