The Alphabet of Austin — Old Austin Art Print by Betsy Crum
It says THE ALPHABET OF AUSTIN across the top, and then it does exactly that: twenty-six tiles, A to Z, each one an icon of the Austin people mean when they say they miss Austin. A is the city limit sign. B is Bob Bullock. C is Chuy's. From there the chart wanders past the Dobie Theater, the Edwards Aquifer, Hyde Park Cafe, Iron Works, and Kerbey Lane, pauses at Mangia Pizza, the Nutty Brown, and the Omelettry, then lands on Peter Pan Golf and Quack's 43rd Street Bakery. G, sensibly, just says Groovy.
The back half is where the tears start. S is Stevie Ray Vaughan. T is Terra Toys, U is the Umlauf, V is Vulcan Video. X — the letter where most alphabet charts give up — gets Taco Xpress, and Y goes to Yard Dog before the Zilker Zephyr carries Z home. Some of these are still open for breakfast. Some survive only on this chart. That's the point.

Which Austin spots made it into the Alphabet of Austin?
Twenty-six in all — Chuy's, Kerbey Lane, Peter Pan Golf, Quack's 43rd Street Bakery, the Umlauf, and the Zilker Zephyr among them. If you're already arguing about what got left out, the chart is working.
Is this current Austin or old Austin?
Old Austin — the one everybody swears was better. Half these tiles you can still walk into; the rest survive only in paint, which is exactly why the chart was made.
Can a kid actually learn letters from the Austin Alphabet?
It was practically born for one — it is an alphabet chart, after all. It also does honest work in a kitchen, a dorm room, or the entryway of anyone who keeps claiming they're moving back someday.

How do I make a gallery wall with art prints?
Start with an anchor piece and build outward — many Crum Art prints are part of series designed to group together as a statement gallery wall, or hang individually as standalone pieces. Since every image is sized to fit standard frames, mixing sizes is easy: lay the arrangement out on the floor first, keep about two to three inches between frames, and center the whole grouping at eye level.
