Fiesta Texas Flag Art by Betsy Crum
This one puts FIESTA in worn letterpress capitals over a weathered Texas flag, which is about right — the thing began as a nod to San Jacinto and the Alamo and turned into something considerably noisier. If you grew up here, the word is not an event, it is a smell: anticucho smoke and spilled beer drifting through La Villita on a NIOSA night, chicken on a stick in one hand and no room in the crowd to lift the other. It is somebody's grandmother cracking a cascarón on the crown of your head so the confetti goes straight down your shirt. It is medals — traded, begged for, pinned on until the sash clanks when you walk — and Battle of Flowers Friday, when the schools let out for a parade that women founded in 1891 and women still run.
It works in a kitchen or an entry, and it works better next to the Earl Abel's Viva Fiesta marquee or anything else in San Antonio art prints.

What is Fiesta, for anyone who did not grow up with it?
Eleven days every April in San Antonio, running since 1891. It began as a nod to San Jacinto and the Alamo and turned into something considerably noisier.
Where does a Fiesta print live the other eleven months?
A kitchen or an entry. The worn letterpress palette keeps it from reading as party decor in November.

How do I make a gallery wall with art prints?
Start with an anchor piece and build outward — many Crum Art prints are part of series designed to group together as a statement gallery wall, or hang individually as standalone pieces. Since every image is sized to fit standard frames, mixing sizes is easy: lay the arrangement out on the floor first, keep about two to three inches between frames, and center the whole grouping at eye level.
