Hank — the Starry Night Cowboy by Caya Crum
Hank stands against a navy sky full of white stars in a deep teal hat and a red floral vest, dark hair loose past his jaw. The vest is the surprise. In a series full of stripes and snaps and flat color, Hank turned up in flowers, and nobody in the painting seems to think it needs explaining.
He's the darkest of them and the only one painted after sundown. The band of yellow-green along the bottom keeps it from going gloomy — there's a horizon down there somewhere and it's still warm.
