Texas Star — Minimalist Wall Art by Betsy Crum

Just the crest of the Texas Star rises from the bottom edge of the frame: a clean black arc of thin spokes, a string of little gondolas, and small letters spelling TEXAS riding the curve like they paid extra for the good seats. Everything above is open white — no midway, no crowd, not even a cloud. Betsy drew the wheel the way Dallas actually sees it most days: the top sliver over the trees, promising the rest is down there somewhere. This is the square cut, 8x8 through 24x24; the vertical print is here.

The restraint is the piece. One line does the work of a whole fairground, and all that space above gives the wheel somewhere to go.

Where It'll Work in Your House

Minimal line work like this is the easiest hanging decision you'll make all year. It's built for hallways, offices, stair walls, and any spot that needs art without commotion. On a gallery wall it's the breather between busier pieces — try it near Dallas State of Mind and let the white space do the arranging.

Product FAQ

Why is most of the print empty?

Because that is the view. Most days Dallas only sees the top sliver of the Texas Star over the trees. No midway, no crowd, not even a cloud. The restraint is the piece.

What is written on the wheel?

TEXAS, in small letters riding the curve like they paid extra for the good seats. Below them, a string of little gondolas on a clean black arc of thin spokes. That is the whole drawing.

Where does it hang?

Hallways, offices, and stair walls, anywhere that needs art without commotion. Minimal line work like this is the easiest hanging decision you will make all year.

What hangs with it?

On a gallery wall it is the breather between busier prints. Try it near Dallas State of Mind and let the white space do the arranging. This is the square cut, and the same drawing exists as a vertical.

Will this look like an original painting or a print?

Crum Art takes the scanning and photographing of original paintings seriously — we work to capture the texture of the canvas or paper the original was created on, so that texture shows through in the print. Combined with the cotton rag paper’s own subtle surface and the hand-signing, many customers say they cannot tell if it’s an original or a print. That’s intentional. These are not flat digital reproductions — they are fine art prints that carry the soul of the original.

What sizes does this print come in?

Our fine art prints are available in standard rectangle and square sizes. Rectangles: 8x10 unframed matted to 11x14, 11x14 unframed, 16x20, 18x24, and 24x36. Squares: 8x8 unframed matted to 12x12, 12x12 unframed, 16x16, 20x20, and 24x24. Each size ships ready to frame, making it easy to find the right fit for your wall.

How do I make a gallery wall with art prints?

Start with an anchor piece and build outward — many Crum Art prints are part of series designed to group together as a statement gallery wall, or hang individually as standalone pieces. Since every image is sized to fit standard frames, mixing sizes is easy: lay the arrangement out on the floor first, keep about two to three inches between frames, and center the whole grouping at eye level.
