The Dallas Pegasus — Flying Red Horse Art by Betsy Crum

The neon Pegasus rides high on its perch above the Magnolia Building, small and red and certain, with an enormous teal sky going soft cream behind it. That's the way Dallas actually sees its horse — from below, from blocks away, from I-30 at dusk — a landmark you measure the whole skyline by. This is the square cut, 8x8 through 24x24; the vertical print is here.

Every city gets one perfect symbol if it's lucky. Dallas got a flying red horse, and never needed another.

Where It'll Work in Your House

All that sky makes it calm, roomy dallas wall art — an entryway, a living room, an office with Dallas out the window or Dallas in the rearview. It's the piece Dallas natives and transplants both stop at, and a housewarming gift that says you know what that horse means.

Product FAQ

What is the Pegasus in Dallas?

The neon flying red horse on its perch above the Magnolia Building, the landmark Dallas measures the rest of its skyline by. Every city gets one perfect symbol if it is lucky, and Dallas got a horse.

Why is the horse so small in the frame?

Because that is how Dallas actually sees it: from below, from blocks away, from I-30 at dusk. Betsy gave the teal sky almost the whole picture and left the horse small, red, and certain.

Where does it hang?

An entryway, a living room, or an office, with Dallas out the window or Dallas in the rearview. All that sky makes it calm enough for a room you pass through a dozen times a day.

What hangs with it?

The rest of the Dallas prints, or Betsy's horse work if you came for the animal rather than the city. This is the square cut, and the same painting exists as a vertical for a taller wall.

Will this look like an original painting or a print?

Crum Art takes the scanning and photographing of original paintings seriously — we work to capture the texture of the canvas or paper the original was created on, so that texture shows through in the print. Combined with the cotton rag paper’s own subtle surface and the hand-signing, many customers say they cannot tell if it’s an original or a print. That’s intentional. These are not flat digital reproductions — they are fine art prints that carry the soul of the original.

What sizes does this print come in?

Our fine art prints are available in standard rectangle and square sizes. Rectangles: 8x10 unframed matted to 11x14, 11x14 unframed, 16x20, 18x24, and 24x36. Squares: 8x8 unframed matted to 12x12, 12x12 unframed, 16x16, 20x20, and 24x24. Each size ships ready to frame, making it easy to find the right fit for your wall.

How do I make a gallery wall with art prints?

Start with an anchor piece and build outward — many Crum Art prints are part of series designed to group together as a statement gallery wall, or hang individually as standalone pieces. Since every image is sized to fit standard frames, mixing sizes is easy: lay the arrangement out on the floor first, keep about two to three inches between frames, and center the whole grouping at eye level.
