NuGrape Soda — Vintage Soda Pop Art by Betsy Crum

Two NuGrape bottles stand shoulder to shoulder on a cream ground, close as a duet — same bottle, same yellow-and-purple label, two entirely different moods. One is tinted pink, the other a pale blue-mint, and between them they turn a dime-store grape soda into candy-colored pop art. That is the oldest trick in the pop playbook: repeat the thing, shift the color, and suddenly it is not groceries anymore.

NuGrape is the real article, a grape soda born in 1921 that was once bottled all over the South and pulled ice-cold out of coolers for generations of hot afternoons. Betsy paints the labels everybody has seen and nobody has looked at, and this one got the full twin treatment it deserved.

What is NuGrape soda?
