Ranch Style Beans Amphora — Kitchen Art by Betsy Crum

The amphora series is Betsy's running joke about what Texas would put in a museum if Texas ran the museum. This one gives the Fort Worth bean can the Athenian treatment: two handles, a meander band, and the label in the can's own lettering. It comes in a Red & Gold wash and a hotter Pink & Orange. It is kitchen wall art for someone who has eaten these straight from the can.

It hangs over a stove, in a dining room, or on a kitchen gallery wall with the Miller Lite amphora and the Schepps milk amphora. The nine-can grid is the Ranch Style Beans print; the rest of the pantry is in kitchen wall art.

Betsy Crum, working in Texas. Original family artwork, printed to order.

Product FAQ

What are Ranch Style Beans?

A Fort Worth bean can that half the state grew up eating straight out of the can. Betsy gave it the Athenian treatment: two handles, a meander band, and the label set in the can's own lettering, across the belly where the gods should be.

What is the amphora series about?

It is Betsy's running joke about what Texas would put in a museum if Texas ran the museum. Black-figure pottery is how a culture says this mattered, so she keeps handing that honor to pantry items.

Where does it hang?

Over a stove or in a dining room. It comes in a Red and Gold wash and a hotter Pink and Orange, so it can either settle into a warm kitchen or set one off.

What hangs with it?

The Miller Lite amphora and the Schepps milk amphora. Three vessels make it read as a collection instead of a gag. The nine-can Ranch Style Beans grid takes the same can the other direction, pop art instead of pottery.

Will this look like an original painting or a print?

Crum Art takes the scanning and photographing of original paintings seriously — we work to capture the texture of the canvas or paper the original was created on, so that texture shows through in the print. Combined with the cotton rag paper’s own subtle surface and the hand-signing, many customers say they cannot tell if it’s an original or a print. That’s intentional. These are not flat digital reproductions — they are fine art prints that carry the soul of the original.

What sizes does this print come in?

Our fine art prints are available in standard rectangle and square sizes. Rectangles: 8x10 unframed matted to 11x14, 11x14 unframed, 16x20, 18x24, and 24x36. Squares: 8x8 unframed matted to 12x12, 12x12 unframed, 16x16, 20x20, and 24x24. Each size ships ready to frame, making it easy to find the right fit for your wall.

How do I make a gallery wall with art prints?

Start with an anchor piece and build outward — many Crum Art prints are part of series designed to group together as a statement gallery wall, or hang individually as standalone pieces. Since every image is sized to fit standard frames, mixing sizes is easy: lay the arrangement out on the floor first, keep about two to three inches between frames, and center the whole grouping at eye level.
