Pop Art, Painted in Texas
Pop art started with soup cans and movie stars. Ours starts with Ranch Style Beans, Big Red, Dairy Queen cones, Dr Pepper and the M.L. Leddy's boot sign, the icons of a Texas childhood painted at the scale they deserve. Every print here began as an original painting or drawing by Betsy, Caya or Carl Crum, and most of them are in a Warhol-style grid, a flat-color portrait or a halftone that reads like a comic book page. This page gathers all of the Crum Art pop art in one place; the narrower lanes below each have a page of their own.
Food Pop Art
The kitchen side of the collection: Ranch Style Beans, Topo Chico, Mexican Coke, Ro-Tel, Tabasco, Cholula, Ball jars, NuGrape, Bubble Up and a stairway of Dr Pepper cans. The whole icebox is in Food Pop Art, and kitchen wall art sets the table.
Western Pop Art
Caya Crum's flat-color cowboys and cowgirls, the Money Cow in hot pink, a Greco Roman bust in a cowboy hat and the Leddy boot in four Warhol colorways. The riders are in cowboy art, the boots in cowboy boot art and the whole range in western art.
Cow Pop Art and Dr Pepper Pop Art
The Warhol Cow, the Pop Art Cow in red and yellow and the Money Cow graze in cow art. The Dr Pepper grid, the 10-2-4 bottles and the neon raccoon have their own page at Dr Pepper pop art. For the rest of the loud stuff, see dopamine decor and pink wall art, or hang a set of them in the gallery wall layout generator.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is pop art?
Pop art takes everyday commercial things, soda bottles, soup cans, celebrities, signs, and paints them big, bright and repeated, so the ordinary starts to look iconic. Andy Warhol made it famous in the 1960s. At Crum Art the subjects are Texan: Dr Pepper, Big Red, Dairy Queen, Buc-ee's and the Leddy boot.
Is this real pop art or just a style?
It is original art in the pop art tradition. Every piece is painted or drawn by hand in Fort Worth and sold as a print of that painting; nothing here is a reproduced advertisement or a stock graphic.
Where does pop art hang best?
Kitchens, bar carts, game rooms and offices, anywhere that can take some color. A single Warhol grid holds a wall on its own; three of the soda prints in a row make a kitchen wall people talk about.
Do pop art prints make good gifts?
Yes, especially for the homesick Texan, the Baylor grad and the person whose fridge is never without a Dr Pepper. A print beats a t-shirt every time.
