What is chinoiserie wall art?

Chinoiserie is the European decorative style, from the 1600s on, that borrowed Chinese motifs: blue-and-white porcelain, pagodas, birds and flowering branches. Chinoiserie wall art today means prints in that palette and pattern language. Crum Art's version puts Texas barnyard animals in porcelain blue.

Why 4-H animals?

Because the Crums sell at the Fort Worth Stock Show, where the steers, lambs, pigs, rabbits and chickens are raised and shown by 4-H and FFA kids. Painting them in porcelain blue is the studio's way of hanging the barn in the dining room.

Is chinoiserie art still in style?

Blue-and-white never left. Grandmillennial and Southern-traditional rooms lean on it, and a chinoiserie print is the easiest way to add it without buying a ginger jar. The pink Staffordshire dogs are the accent.
